The Difference Between a Legitimate and a Phony Sweepstakes, Part 3

If you are reading this, it's probably because you have read my other two articles about sweepstakes marketers and their motives. Are you not excited that we're finally on the positive side of the sweepstakes advertising industry? It's pretty discouraging, being in a world where there are so many dishonest people that will lie to you to get something of value from you, whether it is your opinion or your identity. But just because there are a lot of scammer sweepstakes websites out there, it does not mean that all sweepstakes websites are scams. There are some good ones. Let me tell you of the good sweepstakes websites.

These good sweepstakes websites are actually marketing companies, in their own right. Other companies use a host sweepstakes website to put a sweepstakes or giveaway of their goods or services to people, in order to promote their company. These websites are the best. They don't sell customer information, and they actually have pretty good odds for the customers to win prizes and deals - especially when you consider the other kinds of sweepstakes, who don't give you any odds of winning anything at all. And one thing that's great about these kinds of websites is that there are many different kinds of sweepstakes on one single domain. For instance, if you're interested in getting some Apple products, on this one website you can probably find several different items, such as an iPod Touch, a MacBook, a Magic Mouse, or dozens of various products by that company. Once I found these sweepstakes, my confidence in the World Wide Web grew again (and I got some cool stuff).

If you're going to participate in a sweepstakes, please keep the motives of the website developers in mind. Stay away from information thieves. Guard against pollsters. Stop visiting the fringes of cyberspace, just to get swindled by amateur con-artists. Find the giveaways and sweepstakes that are looking for you, not for your wallet or information.
